How did 'Baines' Baobab' get its name?
Back in the 1850s, Thomas Baines, an explorer and artist, began focusing on naturalism. In 1862, during his journey from Namibia to Victoria Falls, he took shelter under a baobab tree, which came to be known as "Baines' Baobab" in his honor. His name carved into the tree and some beautiful watercolor paintings from that time are now kept in the UK.
